Kari Gibb/MDN MSU junior Caleb Van De Griend (50) in his favorite position - making a rebound and scoring the second chance points - was honored by the NSIC.
After a record-breaking season that earned him Player of the Week honors four times this winter, Minot State University (MSU) forward Caleb Van De Griend has been named an All-NSIC performer.
Van De Griend, a 6-foot-8 junior from Bridgetown, Australia, was voted to the All-NSIC 1st Team on Thursday by the league’s coaches.
The honor is the first for Van De Griend who led the Beavers averaging 20.6 points and 13.0 rebounds per game and who had 26 double-doubles during the regular season and the opening NSIC playoff game.
Van De Griend also led the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) in rebounds per game (13.0), in field-goal percentage shooting 71.6 percent (255-of-356) and was second in the league in scoring average (20.6) in 32 games to date.
The Beavers’ 6-8 forward also broke the MSU single-season scoring record with 659 points, and counting, the single-season rebounding record with 417, and counting, and set a single-game record with 22 rebounds in a triple-overtime win over Winona State on January 3.
