Minot North girls edged by Jamestown to advance to state
JAMESTOWN – The Minot North girls basketball team traveled on Saturday, March 1, to face the Blue Jays in a state qualifying contest that went down to the wire with the No. 8 hosts in Jamestown taking the 59-57 win over the No. 9 Sentinels to advance.
On Friday, February 28, the No. 7 Williston girls team beat the No. 10 Dickinson girls 93-65 to complete the pairings for the Western Dakota Association (WDA) tournament.
For the Division AA West, the tournament will be held at the Bismarck Community College and start on Thursday, March 6.
In the upper bracket, No. 1 Minot High will take on the winners of the No. 8 / No. 9 play-in game – Jamestown in the quarter final round. No. 4 Bismarck Century will face No. 5 Bismarck High while the No. 2 Bismarck Legacy will play No. 7 Williston in the bottom bracket. The final pairing of the quarter final round will be the No. 3 Mandan girls against the No. 6 Bismarck St. Mary’s girls.
The Division AA East Tournament will take place starting on Tuesday, March 4, and games will be at the higher seed.
No. 8 West Fargo will travel to No. 1 West Fargo Horace for the first game in the quarter final round. No. 5 Shanley will travel to the No. 4 West Fargo Sheyenne girls. No. 7 Grand Forks Central will travel to face No. 2 Fargo Davies while No. 6 Fargo North will travel to No. 3 Grand Forks Red River girls in the final game of the quarter final round.
The Division AA East Tournament will continue on Friday, March 7, at North Dakota State University while the Division AA West Tournament will continue on Friday as well at Bismarck Community College with both east and west in the semifinal round of play.
