Majettes, Magi advance to West Region semis
Girls West Region
No. 1 Minot High 74, No. 8 Jamestown 39
The Majettes jumped out quickly and built a 38-14 first half lead. Minot High out rebounded Jamestown 44-36 and used the edge for 16 second chance points in the win. The Majettes also were 10-for-16 from the free throw line compared to 1-for-2 for Jamestown.
Leelee Bell had 24 points and 16 rebounds to lead Minot High. Everette Deschamp added 12 points while Eve Knutson added nine for the Majettes. Both Kinley Bartsch and Sydney Aberle each added eight points in the win.
No. 4 Bismarck Century 60, No. 5 Bismarck High 38
Bismarck Century protected their No. 4 seeding with the win over cross town rivals at the No. 5 spot. The Patriot girls will face Minot High in the first semi final matchup today.
Bismarck High will play Jamestown in the first elimination game today as well.
No. 2 Bismarck Legacy 72, No. 7 Williston 51
The Sabers posted the win over the Coyotes in the first quarterfinal game of the lower bracket at the 2025 NDHSAA Division AA Girls Basketball West Region Tournament for a shot to move on to the semifinal games today.
Legacy led 41-21 after the first half of play and out scored Williston 31-30 in the second half to maintain the lead earned in the first.
The Sabers face the Braves today in the second semifinal game while the Coyotes play xxx in the elimination round of the consolation bracket today as well.
No. 3 Mandan 57, No. 6 Bismarck St. Mary’s 41
The Mandan girls team posted a solid win over the St. Mary’s girls from Bismarck advanced to the second semifinal game today.
St. Mary’s will face Williston in the second elimination game of the consolation bracket.
Boys West Region
No. 1 Bismarck Century 74, No. 8 Jamestown 36
The Patriots jumped out to a 41-17 lead at the half and never looked back as the top seeded Century moved on to the first semifinal game of the 2025 NDHSAA Boys Basketball West Region Tournament.
Bismarck Century will face Bismarck Legacy in the semifinal round while Jamestown will take on Mandan in the elimination round today.
No. 4 Mandan v No. 5 Bismarck Legacy 76, No. 4 Mandan 74
The Mandan Braves held the 41-35 halftime lead in the No. 4 versus No. 5 quarterfinal of the west region tournament. Bismarck Legacy reversed that in the second half, outscoring the Braves 41-33 for the two point win to advance.
In a game that was nearly statistically the same, the contest could have gone to either team as a win. The Sabers advance to face the Patriots in the upper bracket semi final game while the Braves will take on the Blue Jays in the elimination round of the consolation bracket today.
No. 2 Minot High 71, No. 7 Minot North 57
The Minot High boys were able to prevent cross town rivals Minot North from taking the upset in the first quarterfinal game of the lower bracket of play in the 2025 NDHSAA Boys Basketball West Region Tournament on Thursday, March 6.
The Magicians were led by Payton Schell with 19 points while Aric Winczewski added 18 in the win. Grayson Schaefer also hit for 17 points for Minot High in the win.
Minot North was led by Kaiden Helm with 12 points while Brayden Bilkre added 11 in the game. Camden Aufforth and Carson Sessing each posted nine points for the Sentinels in the effort.
Minot High will face Bismarck High in the second semifinal match today while Minot North will face Dickinson in the elimination round of the consolation bracket today.
No. 3 Bismarck High 81, No. 6 Dickinson 71
The No. 3 seeds from Bismarck High kept the No. 6 Midgets at bay to advance to the second semifinal game of the day today while Dickinson will face Minot North in the second elimination game of the consolation bracket today as well.
