Majettes edged in semifinal action by WF United

GRAND FORKS – The Minot High girls hockey team faced the West Fargo United girls in the one of the semifinal games of the 2024-2025 NDHSAA State Girls Hockey Tournament on Friday, February 28, and the game took overtime- twice- to determine the outcome.

United edged the Majettes 2-1 to advance to the final while Minot High will play for third place today.

Neither team scored in the first period of play with United having six shots on goal compared to four for Minot High.

United scored first in the second period at the 4:12 mark for the 1-0 lead. At the 7:57 mark of the second period, Brynn Hanson tied the game 1-1 on an even strength, unassisted goal for the Majettes.

Neither team would score again in the third period or the initial overtime frame. At the 2:18 mark of the second OT session, United found the net on an even strength goal for the win and a chance to play for the state title.

Minot High had 27 shots on goal compared to 36 for United. Both teams had three penalties in the game.

Process Phelps had 34 saves on 36 shots for the Majettes.

Minot High will play Fargo North-South for third place today at 11 a.m.
