Van De Griend named Player of Week for 4th time

Following another record-setting performance on the hardwood, Minot State University (MSU) junior forward Caleb Van De Griend was named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Player of the Week.

This is the fourth time this season Van De Griend has earned the honor.

The 6-foot-7 forward from Bridgetown, Australia led the Beavers to a sweep at home as he averaged 21 points and 11.5 rebounds, turning in his 24th and 25th double-doubles this season.

Thursday in an 82-78 win over visiting Augustana, Van De Griend had game-highs with 23 points and ten rebounds for MSU.

Saturday, he scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the Beavers, helping lead them to an 84-80 win over Wayne State. His performance in Saturday’s win gave Van De Griend 634 points on the season, a new all-time, single-season record at MSU.

Caleb also was named NSIC Player of the Week on December 2, December 23, and January 27 and is the league’s only 4-time honoree this season.
