Sentinels take home victory over Wolves 66-37

The Minot North Sentinels hosted the Watford City Wolves for a non conference game before they finish up their season. The Sentinels fought hard for the 66-37 home win over the Wolves.

Watford City’s Annabelle Bohn made the first two points of the game. Avem Kelly for the Sentinels quickly made two of her own team, and doubled it soon after at the free throw line.

Minot North had to put up a fight to keep their lead through the first half of the game. Elli Laskowski led the Sentinels to their lead in the first quarter with ten points in the paint followed with two more at the free throw line. Kelly came in second for the Sentinels scoring with two more points to bring her up to six total.

The Wolves were led by Lohgan Hanna in the first half of the game. Hanna was shooting from wherever she was open and earned the Wolves six points out on the arc and two points in the lane. Hanna also took a trip to the free throw line and brought home two more points for Watford City. Bohn and Salil Shoemaker each made four more points for the Wolves.

Kally Sorenson and Fallon Sampsel went deep on the Wolves court and each hit a 3-pointer. Addy Clark and Kaydee Nelson followed suit and each put up three points on the arc for the Sentinels.

By the end of the first half the Sentinels started to pull away from the Wolves. Gracen Rorem went in from the bench and made four points for Minot North. Kinzey Welstad and Ashlee Williamson each made a bucket in the paint. Welstad collected a foul and made two at the foul line to give the Sentinels the 35-24 lead going into halftime.

Minot North came back from the halftime break with a tough defense. The Sentinels only let Watford City earn 13 points in the second half of the game.

Minot North’s Laskowski couldn’t be stopped and made ten points in the lane, teammate Rorem followed with seven more Sentinel points. Sorenson made the Wolves four points, Hanna trailing behind with three more.

Once the Sentinels had a secure lead they put out several of their bench players. Sheyenne Bingeman and Jazlynn Sweet brought in six final Minot North points to secure the 66-37 win over Watford City.

The Sentinels will stay local and play at Minot High against the Majettes on Saturday, February 15, starting at 6:00 p.m. Minot North will host the Jamestown Blue Jays Tuesday, February 18, for their last home game of the season starting at 6:00 p.m.
