No. 2 Lions drop first game on road to No. 5 Sioux
The second ranked team in Division B state polls traveled to play the fifth ranked team – both happen to be in District 6 and have some history. Westhope-Newburg defended their home hardwood with the 57-53 win over the previously unbeaten Bishop Ryan Lions.
Bishop Ryan’s loss takes their record to 15-1 with the loss being in district play. WIth that loss, both Westhope-Newburg and Our Redeemer’s are in contention for the top slot in the district standings with the Lions.
The Sioux improved to 14-2 with nine straight wins. The two losses are to Wilton-Wing in their second game of the year and to Our Redeemer’s the first week of January.
Bishop Ryan hosts Dickinson Trinity today at the Lions den while Westhope-Newburg will be at Surrey on Monday, February 10, for their next game.
Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood 88, Parshall/North Shore-Plaza 33
The Mavericks took a road win and improved their record as well as defended those that voted for them this week in the polls.
Harvey-Wells County 62, Surrey 45
The Mustangs made the trip to Hornet country and came home without the win.
Velva 83, Nedrose 45
The Aggies hosted the Cardinals in hoops action on Friday and the hosts protected their turf with the win in a Division A versus Division B matchup.
