MSU volleyball snags Trader from South Prairie-Max
The Minot State University (MSU) volleyball team received a National Letter of Intent (NLI) from a standout athlete on Wednesday, February 5, on National Signing Day. Even better news was how far the coaches had to travel to scout, recruit and gather the letter.
South Prairie-Max senior Azjiah Trader, surrounded by family, friends and teammates signed her NLI to play at MSU this fall.
“I really liked the atmosphere at the campus,” said Trader of the decision. “The coaches, the people I have met- they all felt comfortable. I am excited. I know they have not always been successful in the ‘win’ column, but I am excited to do my part to help.”
Trader was named the Class B Senior of the Year after the 2025 fall season and led the Lady Royals to the district and region championships and a second place finish at the 2024 NDHSAA Class B Volleyball State Tournament.
In addition to volleyball, Trader is a tremendous track and field athlete as well as an integral member of the basketball team that is ranked No. 1 in the state this season. With all the success on the courts, Trader is excited about school as well.
“English is my favorite high school subject,” said Trader. “I think I will be studying business at MSU though. My older sister works with my mom, so business is an interest as well.”
The Lady Royal is looking forward to being close to home and family with the transition to the Lady Beaver’s program this fall. Until then, South Prairie-Max will enjoy the contributions for the remainder of the basketball season and the upcoming track and field season before Trader graduates.
