MSU hockey teams No. 1, No. 6 once again

Kari Gibb/MDN MSU freshman Tori Bear (22) and her teammates remained steady at No. 6 in the polls this week.

The Minot State University (MSU) men’s and women’s hockey teams remained static in this week’s American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) national polls with the Beaver men holding on to the No. 1 spot and the MSU women’s team remaining at No. 6 in their poll.

The MSU men (31-4-1 overall, 22-1-0 MCH) completed a weekend sweep of then-No. 9 Maryville to retain the No. 1 spot in the ACHA Division I men’s national poll. The Beavers beat the Saints 5-2 on Friday night and 5-1 on Saturday.

The MSU men now close out the regular season on the road playing Saturday and Sunday at No. 3-ranked Ohio.

As for the MSU women (20-8-1 overall, 15-7-0 WMCH), who had last weekend off, they remained at No. 6 in the ACHA Division I women’s national poll. The Beavers close out their regular season at home this weekend hosting No. 15 Jamestown on Friday at 3:45 p.m. at the Maysa Arena, and at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

The top five in the ACHA women’s poll remained the same with Liberty (Va.) at No. 1, Adrian (Mich.) at No. 2, Maryville (Mo.) at No. 3, McKendree (Ill.) at No. 4, and Midland (Neb.) at No. 5.

On the men’s side, the teams in the top five remained the same but Ohio and Liberty flip-flopped places in this week’s poll once again as Minot State remained No. 1, UNLV was No. 2, Ohio moved up one spot to No. 3, Liberty slipped a spot to No. 4, and Jamestown remained No. 5.
