Minot High boys grapplers place ninth at state
FARGO – Seven of the top ten boys teams at the Class A level represent the Western Dakota Association (WDA) conference with Bismarck High taking the top spot in the 2024-25 North Dakota High School State Wrestling Championships held at the Fargodome between Thursday, February 20, and Saturday, February 22.
At 183, the Demons were just eight points ahead of the second place finishers – cross town rivals from Bismarck Legacy. West Fargo Sheyenne placed third in state while Minot High was ninth with 85.5 team points.
The first two days of the tournament were about individual wrestlers working their way through the brackets with a chance at the state title for their weight class.
One Magician had a shot at the state title.
Lincoln Brooks at 215-pounds worked his way through the bracket and faced Ole Taylor from Bismarck Century in the final on Friday, February 21, and lost a close battle 9-5 to Taylor. Tucker Nelson – a Minot High grappler at 215 as well – lost to Lincoln Lemar of Bismarck Legacy in the fifth place match for the Magician to take sixth at the meet.
Kaden Kraft at 145 for Minot High faced Seamus Kuklok from Bismarck Century and took the win to finish the tournament in third place at the state meet. At 189 for the Magicians, Evan Berg lost in the fifth place match to Ryer Muske of Valley City for the sixth place finish at state.
The 2025 NDHSCA Class A Boys Division Coach of the Year was Lars Jacobsen & Steven Monk from Bismarck Legacy while the 2025 NDHSCA Class A Division Senior Athlete of the Year was Koltyn Grebel from Valley City.
The team duals championship was between West Fargo Sheyenne and Bismarck Legacy on Saturday, February 22, with Legacy winning 39-26.
