Majettes shutout Davies
The Minot High girls hockey team played their second to last game at All Seasons Arena Friday, February 21, against the visiting Lady Eagles from Fargo Davies. The Majettes shutout the visitors for the 4-0 win.
Minot High scored one goal in the first period and three in the second on the way to the win. The Majettes had 41 shots on goal compared to the Eagles with 11 in the game.
The first score in the game was at 11:54 in the first period of play when Sydnee Bartsch fed the puck to Brynn Hanson for the 1-0 lead over the visitors.
In the second period, Yvonne Slind scored at the 12:02 mark with Mallory Pfau on the assist. Slind found the net again at the 14:20 mark with Julia Stoner and Hanson on the assists for the 3-0 lead for Minot High. Slind posted her third score at the 16:55 mark for the hat trick and the 4-0 score that would be the final. Hanson and Stoner were again awarded the assists.
All four goals by Minot High were even strength scores. Fargo Davies had one penalty in the second and one in the third periods compared to the Majettes with one in the third period. Promesa Phelps guarded the net for Minot High and was a perfect 11-for-11 in saves.
The Majettes were 1-3 for the month of February before the win and moved to 11-6-1-3 in conference play and 11-7-2-3 overall. Minot High will host Grand Forks at All Seasons Arena today at 2 p.m. for the final game before the 2024-2025 NDHSAA Girls Hockey State Tournament from February 26 to March 1 to close the season.
Currently the Majettes are fifth in the standings as they prep for post-season action.
