Majettes setting records before state meet

DICKINSON – The Minot High gymnastics team traveled to Dickinson for the Western Dakota Association (WDA) Championships Friday, February 21. The Majettes left everything out on the floor and took third place in the team standings at the WDA Championships. The team finished with a score of 143.925 the highest score for the Majettes this season.

The Majettes showed up ready to go on Friday and earned themselves many impressive accolades. Individually Minot High had at least one girl place top five in every event.

In the Vault event Minot High only had one lady pull off a high score. Majette Keira Davis finished in fifth place with a 9.275 score. Overall Minot High finished the vault event in sixth with a score of 35.600.

The Majettes took third place in both the Balance Beam and Uneven Bars. Pavyn Peterson led Minot High on bars. Peterson tied for fifth place with a score of 9.000. Adylin Belnap brought in Minot Highs second score for bars in a tie for eighth place with 8.925. Davis finished out the event for the Majettes with another high scoring finish, 12th place with a score of 8.825.

Davis led the beam for Minot High with a fifth place finish and an impressive 9.475 score. The Majettes also had Peterson come in tenth with a 9.150 and Belnap with a 8.925. Minot High Finished third on beam with a score of 36.250.

The Majettes are known for having a very strong floor event and proved this again on friday when they finished in second with 36.850. Davis tumbled out with a fourth place finish with 9.45 her highest score of the meet.

Lexi Mcleod brought in a sixth place floor finish of 9.350 with teammate Belnap following in seventh with 9.175. The Majettes had one more impressive floor routine from Macey Blake who was just barely knocked out of placing. Blake finished with a 8.825.

After an impressive meet three of the Majettes placed in the all around top ten. Davis finished fourth all around with 37.025. Peterson tied for sixth all around, Belnap squeaked in a ninth place all around finish with 35.650 score.

On top of a third place finish and top ten all around placers Minot High’s coach Robbie Werchau was also named WDA coach of the year. The Majettes will finish their season at the State Gymnastics meet in Jamestown February 28-March 1.
