Majettes edged by Knightriders in final regular season match

With the Minot High boys playing in the West Region Championship across town, the girls faced the visiting Knightriders from Grand Forks. The hosts lost a close match as Grand Forks took the 2-1 win at the All Seasons Arena on Saturday, February 22.
Both teams remained scoreless in the first period of play. The Knightriders had five shots on goal compared to the Majettes with three to start the game.
At the 3:59 mark of the second period, Grand Forks scored an even strength goal by Ella Bry with assists by Emma Gray and Dustee Balek for the 1-0 lead.
Minot High scored an even strength goal at the 11:00 mark of the second when Brynn Hanson found the net unassisted to make the game 1-1 going into the third period of play.
The visitors scored the go-ahead goal at the 12:59 mark of the third as the game was winding down. Ella Yahna scored while Chloe Groven and Taylor Kilgore were awarded the assists.
The Majettes had eight shots on goal in the second and seven in the third periods while the visitors had five in the second and eight in the third for the evenly matched contest with both teams recording 18 shots on goal.
Promesa Phelps tended net for Minot High and saved 16 of the 18 shots faced for the Majettes. Neither team had any penalties assessed in the contest.
The Majettes finished the season at sixth in the standings with Fargo North-South in first place, Grand Forks in second, Bismarck Century in third and Mandan in fourth place. Legacy-Bismarck High sits at fifth just ahead of Minot High with West Fargo United at seventh and Dickinson at eighth.
The 2025 NDHSAA Girls Hockey State Tournament kicks off on February 26 at the Ralph Engelstad Arena. Minot High will face Bismarck Century in their round one quarterfinal game.
