Magi notch 100-55 home victory over Blue Jays

The Minot High Magi hosted the Jamestown Blue Jays for their second match up of the season. Their first win against Jamestown was their highest scoring game of the season, as the Magi took the 100-55 win over the Blue Jays.
As the regular season nears its end for Minot High another big win was exactly what the second ranked team needed. The Magi took the 95-65 home win over the Bluejays.
Minot High took the early lead in the first half of the game. Payton Schell led the scoring for the Magi. Schell stayed out on the wing and put in four 3-pointers. Schell later made four more points in the lane and one free throw point to bring his total for the first half to 17 points.
Aric Winczewski and Grayson Schaeffer went point for point for Minot High. Schaeffer brought in two in the paint then Winczewski put up two points in the paint. Winczewski hit a three then Schaeffer went deep for a three, Between the two of them Winczewski and Schaeffer made 30 points for the Magi in the first half.
The Blue Jays tried to keep up but the Magi out shot them. Jamestown kept the score close for the first few minutes of the game. The Bluejays shot three’s to keep the game close, scoring with five athletes on the arc. Caleb Schiele, Madden Skunberg and Max Rittenbach each hit a three pointer to start the half. Jaxon Kalpin and Eddison Walkers each shot from the wing before getting in close to the basket for another two each for the Blue Jays.
Thomas Neuman brought in the most points for Jamestown from under the hoop and made eight points. Braxton Perkins followed close behind with seven Blue Jay points.
The Blue Jays made shots but they couldn’t keep the Magi out of the hoop. Mason Jenson and Landon Bedell each brought in five points for Minot High. Fisher Johnson finished off the first half with two final points for the Magi to give them a 61-35 lead at half time.
In the second half of the game Schell once again led Minot High in scoring and earned nine points. Winczewski and Bedell each made eight points in the paint for the Magi. Minot High took a 90-52 lead with six minutes left and used this safe lead to play some of their bench players.
The Blue Jays starting athletes put up a fight for a few more minutes before sending out their bench players as well. Jamestown’s Kolpin made eight points, teammate Skunkberg followed with six more Blue Jay points.
After few final minutes of gametime the Magi took the 95-65 win over the Blue Jays
The Magi will host Minot North Saturday, February 15, for some cross town basketball. Minot High will be on the road to play Mandan Tuesday, February 18. February 25 the Magi will host their last home game against Bismarck Legacy Tuesday, February 25, game starting at 7:45.
