Livanavage named NCHC Defenseman of the Week
GRAND FORKS – Sophomore defenseman Jake Livanavage was honored as the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) Defenseman of the Week on Monday afternoon, as announced by the league office.
Livanavage takes home the honor for the third time this season after a stand-out weekend on both ends of the ice against then-No. 20 Colorado College.
The sophomore matched his career best with a trio of points in Friday’s contest, scoring a goal and dishing out a pair of assists for his second three-point game of the season and his career before a strong defensive performance on Saturday to help the Fighting Hawks collect a 3-1 win.
The Phoenix, Arizona, native was dominant in the defensive end as well, finishing with a team-best seven blocked shots and a plus-4 rating. He helped the University of North Dakota (UND) block a season-high 23 shots and finish a perfect 4-for-4 night on the penalty kill in Saturday’s finale.
Livanavage currently leads the team and sits fourth in the NCHC among defensemen with 21 points while his 14 points during league play are third among blueliners.
UND will hit the road for a battle with Denver beginning on Friday night at 8:06 p.m.
