Lady Midgets squeak by Majettes

Minot High had 43 shots on goal. Dickinson needed only one of their t11 shots on goal to take the 1-0 win on the road.
The Lady Midgets made the trip to Minot to take on the Majettes on the ice at Maysa on Saturday. Dickinson needed the win to stay in the hunt for the eighth spot as the post season approaches and played that way.
The two teams spent nearly three periods scoreless with no goals scored by either team despite the shots taken by Minot High. The Lady Midgets scored the only goal – the winning goal – at the 13:05 mark of the last period of play on an even strength shot by Reece Hall with Gabi Sobolik on the assist.
The Midgets had two penalties in the first period, one in the second and one in the third compared to one in the first and one in the second for the Majettes in the match. Minot High had 18 shots on goal in the first, eight in the second and 17 in the third with several clanking off the bars of the goal. Dickinson had three in the first, three in the second and five in the third period of play.
Olivia Vaagen tended the net for the Midgets and was a perfect 43-of-43 for Dickinson. Promessa Phelps saved ten of the 11 shots she faced in goal for the Majettes.
With the loss, Minot High dropped to 10-5-1-3 in conference play and 10-6-1-3 overall. The Majettes sit at sixth in the standings, two games or two points behind Legacy-Bismarck High at the fifth slot.
Dickinson moved to 6-12-2-0 in conference play and overall with Fargo Davies just one game and four points ahead of them in the standings for the eighth slot. The Lady Midgets face Legacy-Bismarck High today and Williston on Friday, February 21. Dickinson will be cheering for the Majettes this week.
Minot High will be at Mandan today and will host Fargo Davies on Friday, February 21, with the final game of the regular season on Saturday when Grand Forks hits the ice at Maysa.
