GRAND FORKS – University of North Dakota (UND) head football coach Eric Schmidt announced nine transfers have joined the Fighting Hawks on Tuesday, January 13.

“I’m really excited to add these nine young men to our family,” said Schmidt. “They all fit very specific position needs and will create more competition throughout our roster.”

Appeared in 20 games at Northern Arizona over three years as a wide receiver … Hauled in 29 receptions for 510 yards and two scores over his three seasons as a Lumberjack … Also had 70 rushing yards over 11 attempts and a rushing touchdown … Most recently at Northern Arizona, he caught 13 passes for 177 yards and a touchdown in 2024 … Helped NAU reach the FCS playoffs in 2024.

Nate Frankfather | DB | 6-1 | 205 | Lake Elsinore, Calif. | Mt. San Jacinto College

Spent the 2024 season playing defensive back at Mt. San Jacinto College in California … Saw action in 10 games and piled up 44 tackles, with 33 of them being solo stops … Had three tackles-for-loss … Recorded four pass breakups, picked off two passes and recovered a fumble … Previously played at Stephen F. Austin (2023) and Palomar College (2022).

Kristen Hoskins | WR | 5-9 | 175 | Alexandria, Minn. | Minnesota

Played wide receiver at Minnesota for three seasons … Only appeared in three games as a Golden Gopher … Previously was a star wide receiver for Alexandria High School … Caught 83 passes for 1,185 yards and 15 touchdowns as a senior … Averaged 14.3 yards per catch and also returned three kickoffs for touchdowns … Top-10 finalist for Minnesota’s Mr. Football Award during his prep career.

Zach Lewis | DB | 5-10 | 185 | Chandler, Ariz. | Northern Arizona

Saw action at defensive back in 23 games in his two seasons at Northern Arizona … Piled up 113 total tackles, 70 solo stops, 2.5 TFL’s, 14 pass deflections, three interceptions and a forced fumble during his time at NAU … Had 66 tackles (40 solo), 2.5 tackles-for-loss, five pass breakups, two interceptions and a forced fumble in 2024 … Received Second Team All-Big Sky honors last season … Helped the Lumberjacks reach the FCS playoffs in 2024.

Emmanuel Olagbaju | DL | 6-2 | 300 | Osseo, Minn. | St. Thomas

Spent two seasons at St. Thomas on the defensive line and appeared in four contests … Put down 11 total tackles and 1.5 tackles-for-loss as a Tommie … Recorded nine tackles and a TFL in two games played in 2024 before missing the rest of the season with an injury … Runs a 4.90 second 40-yard dash.

Javance Tupou’ata-Johnson | QB | 6-4 | 220 | Oakland, Calif. | San Diego State

Made one start and appeared in four games at quarterback at San Diego State in 2024 after redshirting the 2023 season … Went 20-for-39 passing for 222 yards and two scores while surrendering two picks … Rushed 18 times for 37 yards … Threw for 1,679 yards and 15 touchdowns as a senior at Chaminade College Prep in California … Also rushed for 803 yards and 13 touchdowns during the final season of his prep career.

Kyjuan Vengrowsky | DL | 6-2 | 240 | De Pere, Wis. | Winona State

Appeared in 32 games on the defensive line during his three seasons at Winona State … Racked up 97 total tackles (53 solo), 23 tackles-for-loss, 12.5 sacks, a pair of pass deflections and forced a fumble during his time as a Warrior … Recorded a team-high 11 quarterback hurries and 5.5 sacks in 2024 … Also had 43 total tackles and 8.5 tackles-for-loss last season before being named First Team All-NSIC.

Bennett Walker | DB | 6-0 | 190 | San Diego, Calif. | San Diego State

Spent the 2024 season playing defensive back at San Diego State after previously spending time at Eastern Michigan and San Diego Mesa … Appeared in two games for the Aztecs in 2024 and had three tackles … Racked up 23 total tackles, five pass breakups and picked off three passes as an Eagle in 2023 … Played for San Diego Mesa in 2022 and saw action in eight games, recording 19 tackles and picking off a pass.

Jamaal Young II | WR | 5-9 | 180 | Tempe, Ariz. | Arizona State

Spent two seasons as a wide receiver at Arizona State … Did not appear in any games during his time as a Sun Devil … Prepped at Tempe Marcos De Niza, where he had 55 grabs for 976 yards and 15 touchdowns as a senior and recorded over 1,500 all-purpose yards … Was a standout on both the basketball and track team at Tempe Marcos De Niza … Won the state title in the 100 meters in Arizona and was second in the 4×100-meter relay team three years in a row.
