No. 2 Lady Honkers beat Lady Cardinals at home

Kari Gibb/MDN Kenmare-Bowbells junior McKenna Mau (2) in previous action, scored eight points in the Lady Honkers win over Lady Cardinals from Langdon Area/Munich on Thursday in Kenmare.

The Langdon Area/Munich girls basketball team has received votes in the Division B polling and took their game to Kenmare to test that voting against the second ranked team in the polls. The hosting Lady Honkers defended their No. 2 ranking, their home hardwood and improved their record with the 49-42 win.

The hosts kept the visitors at bay from the start of the game on. Kenmare-Bowbells led 13-6 after one period of play and kept the Lady Cardinals at bay with the 21-18 at the half.

The halftime adjustments put the Lady Honkers up 38-28 after three quarters of play enroute to the win for Kenmare-Bowbells.

Kenmare/Bowbell was led by Mashae Miller with 16 points in the game. Taya Aufforth hit for 11 points while McKenna Mau added eight for the Honkers. The Lady Honkers will participate in the play Bowman County in Watford City on Saturday, February 1, next and host Ray on Monday, February 3, as the season winds down.

Langdon Area/Munich was led by Meredith Romfo with 12 points while Hilary Haaven added 11 and Avery Lorenz posted ten in the effort. The Lady Cardinals will travel to Cavalier on Monday, February 3, and host Grafton on Friday, February 7, for their next games.

Des Lacs-Burlington 63, Stanley 20

The Lady Lakers took the win over the Blue Jays and improved their record to 14-2 for the season.

Des Lacs-Burlington was led by Logen Ystaas with 19 points while Kaylee Werner added 11, Aspyn MacClennan recorded nine and Ava Brown had eight in the win. The Lakers will travel to play TMCHS on Tuesday, February 4, and host South Prairie-Max on Friday, February 7, for their next pair of games.

Stanley was led by Taya Niemitalo with seven points while Annje Roiss added six points in the effort. The Blue Jays dropped to 5-12 for the year. New Town makes the trip to Stanley on Friday, February 7, for the Blue Jays next home game.

Bottineau 67, Nedrose 56

Bottineau made the trip to Nedrose and took a hard fought win home with them on Thursday, January 30.

Bottineau improved to 13-3 with the win while Nedrose slipped to 5-10 with the loss.

Bottineau will be at Hazen today and New Town on Tuesday, February 4, for their next two games. Nedrose will travel to play Dunseith on Tuesday and host Killdeer on Thursday, February 6, for their next games.

Rugby 53, New Town 46

The Lady Panthers hosted New Town and were able to defend their home gym with the win. Rugby improved to 7-6 on the year and will host Shiloh Christian tomorrow and travel to South-Prairie-Max on Tuesday, February 4, for their next games.

New Town slipped to 10-7 with a home game against Bottineau on Tuesday and a road trip to Stanley on Friday for their next pair of games.

Berthold 67, Harvey-Wells County 41

The sixth ranked Lady Bombers traveled to face the Lady Hornets and brought a win home with them.

With the win, the Lady Bombers improved to 16-1 and looked every bit in the top ten for DIvision B teams. Berthold will host Tioga tomorrow and be in Trenton on Friday, February 7, for their next games.

Harvey-Wells County slipped to 5-12 for the season. The Lady Hornets will be at Kidder County tomorrow and St.John on Monday, February 3, for their next games.
