MSU women win three matches, drop dual to Dickinson State

GLASGOW, Mont. – Meeting up for the second time this season, Minot State University (MSU) battled hard and picked up three wins over in-state rival Dickinson State but came up short in the overall dual, falling 35-14 to the Blue Hawks on Sunday, January 5.

The two teams clashed in November at the MSU Dome in the Beaver Bash Duals with Dickinson State picking up the win. Sunday’s women’s wrestling match was contested at Glasgow High School in Montana as a home dual for the Blue Hawks, who grabbed 15 team points thanks to three forfeit victories.

Outside of the forfeits, the dual was a true battle with MSU getting a pinfall win each from Nina Sandoval at 180 pounds and Madilyn Schuck at 207 pounds, for five team points each, while Haleigh Lematta added a 17-2 technical fall victory at 145 pounds, giving the Beavers (2-4 duals) their 14 points.

The Blue Hawks (4-1) were able to pick up four wins by pin in the other four matches contested on the day, at 124, 131, 138, and 160, helping them close out the team victory, though.

MSU now heads back to the MSU Dome for their final home meet of the season as the Beavers host Sioux Falls on Wednesday, January 8, at 5 p.m. The evening will be “Senior Night” and the Beavers will honor Nina Sandoval prior to the match.

Starting at $2.99/week.
