MSU men take down Bismarck State 37-7 in dual contest
Minot State University (MSU) junior Kale Farrington led the way for the Beavers with his first win of the season as the Minot State men’s wrestling team topped host Bismarck State 37-7 on Saturday, January 14, in a non-conference dual.
Getting in some action on a weekend without an Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) dual, the Beavers (3-4 duals) shook up their lineup on Saturday in their second meeting of the season with the Mystics and the MSU grapplers who hit the mat stepped up to the challenge.
That included Farrington who, competing at 174 pounds, earned his first win this season competing in his first dual meet for Minot State as he scored an 11-4 win by decision over Izac Turner.
Adding to the Beaver victories were Andrew Worthington at 141, Ryan Hrcka at 157, John Armstrong at 165, and Marcus Allen at 197 as each won their individual match by pin.
Moving up a weight class and competing at 285 pounds, MSU’s Cannon Potts scored an 18-5 major decision win, as well, while Dom Howlett received a forfeit win at 184 pounds for the Beavers, rounding out the team’s victories in the dual.
Adrian Chavez and Tristan Pekas also added wins by pin in an extra match each on the day for the Beavers.
MSU returns to the mats today, resuming NSIC action as the Beavers host Minnesota State Moorhead at 7 p.m. at the MSU Dome.
