MSU men remain No. 1, women move up to No. 5
A weekend sweep by the Minot State University (MSU) men’s hockey team kept the Beavers atop the American College Hockey Association (ACHA) poll while a sweep for the Beaver women helped them move up to No. 5 in the nation in this week’s ACHA poll.
The MSU men (28-4-1 overall) beat No. 5 Jamestown 4-3 on Friday, then swept a home-and-home series with No. 12 Mary, 6-1 and 6-2, respectively, on Saturday and Sunday to help keep the Beavers locked in at the No. 1 spot in the ACHA Division I men’s national poll.
The MSU women (18-8-1) swept No. 8 Niagara over the weekend, picking up 4-1 and 2-0 wins, helping the Beavers move up one spot to No. 5 in the ACHA Division I women’s national poll.
The Beaver men are in action Friday on the road playing at No. 5 Jamestown, which retained its spot in this week’s poll. UNLV remained No. 2 in the men’s poll while Ohio moved up one spot to No. 3 and Liberty (Va.) slipped one spot down to No. 4.
The MSU women also hit the road, playing at unranked Minnesota on Saturday and Sunday.
The top three in the women’s poll remained the same with Liberty at No 1, Adrian College (Mich.) at No. 2, and Maryville (Mo.) at No. 3, while McKendree (Ill.) moved up one spot to No. 4 and the Beavers climbed one spot to No. 5.
