Minot High Majettes can’t be beat

The Minot High Majettes put on a show. The Majettes hosted a night of basketball against the Bismarck Century Patriots. The Majettes took the win after a close first half and a high scoring second half 69-46 over the visitors.

Minot High put out starters LeeLee Bell, Karew Lamoureux, Sydney Aberle, Kinley Bartsch and Eve Knutson. Bell jumped for the ball with the Patriots taking the first possession.

The Patriots scored the first point with the Majjettes scoring quickly after. The Majettes worked hard to stay ahead of the Patriots, but Century stayed close throughout the first half of the game. Bell and Knutson led the scoring for Minot High in the first half of the game. Both Majettes scored 12 points in the first half.

The Patriots stayed close throughout the first half. Allison Volk brought in the most points for Century, with nine points in the first half. Behind her was Zole Austin with eight points for the Lady Patriots. Addison Weigel added five more points. Abby Fosland and Olivia Klimpel brought in the last few points for Century, not quite enough points to take the lead over Minot High at the half.

Minot High had two more scores in the first half of the game. Everett Deschamp earned the Majettes six points. Lamoureux brought in five points for the Majettes, ending the first half with a close 36-28 lead over Century.

Early into the second half of the game the Lady Patriots managed to keep the score close.

Fosland brought in six more points for Century followed by five from Kimpel. With only eight minutes left in the final half of the game Minot High built a wider lead.

Bell brought in 11 points for Minot High, including seven free throw shots. Bartsch earned eight more points. Deschamp and Knutson each made a 3-pointer to bring in six more points for Minot High, securing a strong lead. The Majettes made 33 points in the final half compared to the Patriots 18 points, which gave Minot High the chance to use some of their bench players.

LeeLee Bell recorded an impressive 28 points during the game and had an almost perfect free throw record. Bell went 11-for-12 at the free throw line. Bartsch did have a perfect free throw record going six for six in protected free throw shots. Knutson brought in 15 total points for Minot High consisting of five 3-pointers.

The game ended with the number one ranked team in the state, Minot High, winning 69-46 over the Bismarck Century Patriots.

The undefeated Majettes will host Mandan on Tuesday, January 21, in a battle of the top two teams in the Western Dakota Association (WDA) standings. Minot High will travel to the third team in the WDA standings, Bismarck Legacy, on Friday, January 24.
