FARGO – The Crystal Classic Invite over the weekend showcased the state’s teams in a preview of what the 2025 NDHSAA State Gymnastics Meet might look like when it takes place February 28-March 1, 2025 at Jamestown High School.

Dickinson won the invite with a team score of 145.050 while Jamestown was second with a 142.050 and Minot High was third with a 140.975 at the event.

“All of the teams in the state were at this meet, so that was fun,” said head coach Robbie Werchau. “The girls competed well, even though we had some falls.”

The Midgets took first place in all four events. The Blue Jays took three second place finishes and one third place. Minot High had a second in the floor, third in both balance beam and uneven bars as well as the fourth place finisher in the vault at the event.

In the All Around scoring, Majette Pavyn Peterson was seventh with top ten score in the floor and an 11th place mark in the beam. Adylin Belnap was tenth in the All Around scoring for Minot High as well with Gracyn Bergan in 11th right behind her.

“We started in the balance beam and we only had two falls,” said Werchau. “Adylin Belnap, Pavyn Peterson, and Gracyn Bergan were our top 3 on beam, but Macey Blake, Cadence Bagi and Laikyn Halverson also did well.”

With the number of schools present, the invite was a good time to test and plan on adjustments as the season is over the halfway mark.

“Gracyn Bergan attempted a new tumbling pass on the floor and didn’t quite make it, but still had one of our top scores,” said Werchau. “Cadence Bagi also attempted a new tumbling pass on floor and was successful and had her best floor score of the season so far.”

Despite the falls and adjustments to routines, the team has settled into the process well for such a young group.

“Bars was not our best event but the girls showed some perseverance,” said Werchau. “I was proud they didn’t just give up but battled through and showed some desire. This meet was our highest team score of the season with a 140. 975.. Overall, it was a good meet to see all of the teams and get a feel for where we stand.”

Starting at $2.99/week.
