Minot High, Century Battle in Bismarck
BISMARCK- The Century High boys hosted a close dual meet with the Minot High boys swim and dive team. With both teams neck and neck for the win throughout the meet the Century boys swam away with the 97-89 win.
Minot High’s diving team didn’t win the event but won the points they needed to hold off Century with Tayson Solper (2nd place), Holden William (3rd place) and Carson Nadeau (4th place) scoring nine points for the event.
Carter Larson with a 58.12 win in the 100-yard butterfly holds one of Minot’s few event wins as well as anchoring in a 1:36:97 victory for the 200 yard freestyle relay with Luke Neumann, Barret Hanngrefs, and Fracis Andrew.
The other individual wins belonged to Logan Hill, also the closest first place win, winning the 50 freestyle in 23.32 followed by Minot High’s Derek Oswald with 24.88 for third. Caden Brey with a 1:11.65 win in the 100 breaststroke, barely a second faster then teammate Xavier Oswald who finished second in 1:12.68.
Brey finished second in the 100 freestyle in 55.41. Followed by Tyler Burns at 55.67 in third and Isaiah Barthnek at 57.79 in fifth.
Burns also took sixth in the 200 freestyle following Larson in second and Barret Hannegrefs in fourth.
Hill also placed second in the 100 backstroke in 1:02.19 with teammates Hunter Barnard in fourth 1:03.15 and Levon Stai in fifth 1:06.28.
In the 200 medley relay Minot High A took second with senior Derek Oswald, Hill,Gavin King, and Brey with a time of 1:47.08, just short of the win.
King and Hill also competed in the 400 freestyle relay taking second with teammates Francis and Larson at 3:35.99.
Francis also went home with a second place finish in the 500 freestyle in 5:14.35 teammate King following at 5:56.21 in fifth, and a third place finish in the 200 IM with Neumann and Jaxon Dodds following in fourth and fifth.
The Magicians also attended the Williston Coyote Invite on Saturday, January 4, and claimed first place. Results have not been published yet, but will be when they become available.
Minot High will travel to West Fargo to battle with Sheyenne on January 17 in a non-WDA event.
