Majettes take win over Spruins
The combined Fargo North-South girls hockey team traveled to Minot to take on the Majettes. The Spruins sit atop the standings at 8-1-1-2 with an overall record of 9-1-1-2 while Minot High at 6-3-1-1 puts the Majettes at sixth in the standings.
The battle went into overtime with the hosts taking the 3-2 win and stay within striking range of the top levels.
Neither team scored in either the first or second periods of play. The Spruins outshot the Majettes 8-5 in the first and 7-5 in the second periods of play. Fargo had four penalties in the first two periods compared to Minot High with three in the same timeframe.
Fargo scored first in the third period of play at the 11:20 mark for the 1-0 lead. Minot High scored at the 14:26 mark when Julia Stoner found the net on an even strength goal unassisted to tie the game at 1-1 with little time left.
In overtime, Minot High outscored the guests for the 2-1 win. Brynn Hanson found the net for the Majettes in the win.
Faith Seekings worked the net for Minot High and faced 30 shots on goal with 29 saves in the game for the win. The Majettes were only able to put 12 shots on goal in the game and only slipped one of those by the keeper.
Minot High hosts Devils Lake on Friday, January 17, for their next action.
