Majette grapplers topple competition
RUGBY – The Minot High girls wrestling team attended the Panther Booster girls wrestling tournament on Saturday, January 25, and claimed top billing at 238 team points with a 44 point margin over second place Dickinson at nearly 100 points over Turtle Mountain Community High School (TMCHS) in third place.
Madisyn Racine won first place at 118-pounds for Minot High with a win by fall over Aryana Loran from Dickinson. Maycee Boyce at 155 beat Deysi Krisher from Des Lacs-Burlington in the final for the first two top spots for the Majettes. Jade’ence Fletcher at 190 pinned TMCHS’s Aryonna Gourneau for the third top finish for Minot High.
Minot High’s Haleigh Carr at 130 took second place with the loss in the final to Alyssa Hoyles from Drayton. Ella Brown at 100 placed second as well for the Majettes with Bria Brossart of Rugby earning the win. At 142 for Minot High, Riley Hansen placed second with Bristol Fike from Harvey-Wells County taking the win.
Finishing in third place at the booster meet, Monica Boakye at 106, Khylie Schlotz at 112 and Payton Russell at 136 each earned valuable team points with the top three finishes for the Majettes.
Brooklyn Ost at 100 and Martha Ward at 112 had fourth place finishes for Minot High while Kendall Bice placed fifth at 148 for the Majettes. Also at 112 for Minot High, Kiersten Nevels took seventh and at 136 Sava Nelson placed eighth for the Majettes.
The Lady Lakers had Deysi Krisher at 155 take second place with a loss in the final to Boycee from Minot High. Kashtyn Bredahl took third with 24 team points at 124 for Des Lacs-Burlington. Teammate Kale Krisher placed fourth at 190 while Victoria Pasterz took fifth at 170 for the Lady Lakers. Lilyann Nygard also finished at seventh at 170 for the Lakers.
The Lady Honkers had Taley Michel take first place at 106-lbs for Kenmare-Bowbells with a decision win over Charlotte Crowston from Pembina County North in the final. At 136 for the Honkers, Amaya Baptiste also took first at the meet with a win by fall over Christina Dohmann from Dickinson.
Tenley Michel at 124 took second place with a loss in the final to Marlie Stremick, also of Pembina County North for Kenmare-Bowbells. At 170, Honker points continued for the team as Tagen Thornton finished in sixth place.
The host team from Rugby had a first place finish at 100-pounds by Bria Brossart with a major decision over Brown from Minot High in the final match. At 106 for the Lady Panthers, Avarie Jacobson took fifth for the hosts.
At 106 for Stanley, Kimber Fritel placed sixth for the Blue Jays. Aubree Bunner earned team points with a seventh place finish for Stanley as well. Also in seventh place for the Blue Jays was McKenna Jones at 136 and 11 team points. At 148 for Stanley, Inaani Wilston took eighth place.
The Lady Titans had one wrestler place as Joslyn James took eighth place at 155 for TGU.
