Magicians, Majettes roll in road wins

JAMESTOWN – The Minot High boys and girls wrestling teams made the trip to Jamestown for a night of duals against the hosting Blue Jays in a Western Dakota Association (WDA) contest for both the boys and girls.

Majettes 60, Lady Blue Jays 18

The Minot High girls’ dual match with Jamestown was loaded with pins and forfeits for the Majettes. Ella Brown at 100-pounds, Monica Boakye at 106, Khylie Schlotz ad 112, Payton Russell at 136 and Maycee Boyce at 155 each won by forfeit on the night for 30 team points on the dual score.

Martha Ward at 118 pinned Leah Torres after four minutes for the Majettes. Haleigh Carr pinned Mackenzie Stoddart at 130 for Minot High. Riley Hansen pinned Ashlyn Lee at the 1:23 mark for the Majettes at 142. At 148, Kendall Bice pinned Ellie Guerra in less than a minute for Minot High while Jade’ence Fletcher pinned Malia Robinson in ten seconds at 250 for the Majettes as well.

At 124, Kaydence Golding pinned Madisyn Racine for the Blue Jays while Grace Bercier at 170 and Hope Miller at 190 both took wins by forfeit for the hosts.

The win moved Minot High to 5-1 in WDA duals for the season. The Majettes will attend the Rugby Tournament on Saturday, January 25, and the Belle of the Brawl on February 1 before the final WDA dual at Dickinson.

Magicians 69, Blue Jays 6

The Minot High boys cruised to a WDA win over the hosts in Jamestown. The Magicians won all but one match in the contest for the road win.

Jack Combs for Minot High started out the scoring at 107-pounds with a win by pin for six points. Eliah Rogers took team points by forfeit at 114 for Minot High. Tayven Blackaby won by pin at 121 for the Magicians. Korbin Kraft also took the win by pin at 127 for the Magicians. All three of the first pins took place in under a minute.

Kaden Philion won by technical fall (18-0) at 133 for Minot High. Ty Burton won by pin at 139 while Kaden Kraft did the same at 145 giving the Magicians the 41-0 lead at that point.

At 152, Jamestown had their sole point generator when Lucas Schlepuetz pinned Scott Triplett for the sole six points in the dual.

At 160, Benjamin Hartman won by technical fall (20-4) for five team points. Noah Gledsoe won by pin at 172 for Minot High while Evan Berg won at 189 by technical fall (18-1) for the Magicians.

Tucker Nelson at 215 and Liam Neff at 285 both won team points by forfeit for the final score of 69-6 for the dual win.

The Magicians are second in WDA Pool B standings at 2-1 WDA duals and 3-2 overall. Minot High will be at the Badlands Classic on Saturday, January 25, for their next meet and travel to Bismarck against St. Mary’s for their next WDA dual on January 30.
