Legacy takes mat win over Minot High boys
The Minot High boys wrestling team hosted Bismarck Legacy Friday in a non-pool division match and the Sabers took the 44-25 win over the Magicians.
Legacy got onto the scoreboard first with a pin by Dylan Sandness over Minot High’s Jack Combs at 107-pounds. Eliah Rogers cut into the lead with a 12-4 decision over Blake Schneider at 114 for Minot High. After two matches, Legacy led 6-4.
Nicolas Enzminger pinned Tayven Blackaby at 121 for the Sabers and Joey Enzminger beat Korbin Kraft 15-0 for Legacy to take the 17-4 lead.
At 133, Hunter Olson pinned Kaden Philion and Tucker Schiemeister won a close 4-3 match over Ty Burton at 139 to extend the Sabers lead to 26-4 with seven matches remaining.
Minot High received a win by forfeit at 145 to make the score 26-10 for Legacy.
At 152, Minot High’s Kaden Kraft was pinned by Clark Thompson. The same results for Legacy at 160 with Sean Peterschick over Gavin Tanberg. Legacy led 38-10 with four matches remaining.
Minot High’s Noah Bledsoe took the win by pin over Jack Mitchell at 172 to cut the Legacy lead to 38-16 with three weight classifications left. Legacy won the 189-lbs classification by forfeit, putting the Magicians down beyond reach.
Lincoln Brooks won a 4-1 decision over Lincoln Lemar at 215 for Minot High and Liam Neff pinned Jastin Schiemeister at 285 for the Magicians to close the score for the 44-25 win for the Sabers.
Minot High is competing at the Bismarck Rotary event that started on Friday and will run through today. The Magicians will host the Mandan Braves on Thursday for their next WDA contest.
