Braves score two wins on road over weekend
HAZEN – The Bottineau-Rugby boys hockey team scored two road wins over the weekend and one home game win prior to the trips to continue on their four win streak.
In the last game on Saturday, January 25, Bottineau-Rugby took the 3-1 win over the hosting Hazen-Beulah North Stars. The North Stars are on a 14-game losing streak and at the bottom of the standings.
The Braves are in fifth place in the standings with a conference record of 7-4-1-0 and 7-6-2-0 overall. Bottineau-Rugby will continue their road trips with Bismarck High on January 31 and Bismarck Century on February 1.
On Friday, January 24, in Dickinson, the Braves battled to a 5-0 win. The Bottineau-Rugby outshot the Midgets 36-20 in the contest. The Braves had the first two scores in the first period of play with two more goals in the second period of play for the 4-0 lead. The final score was in the third period for the 5-0 win.
Peyton Getzlaff and Khaliel Abdurrahman scored the first two goals while Abdurrahman and Tukker Fedje had the two in the second period of play. Fedje scored the final goal in the third period of play for the Braves win.
Abdurrahman, Getzlaff, Fedje and Brody Nordmark each had assists in the game. Mason Lynnes faced the 20 shots on goal in the net for Bottineau-Rugby with the second shutout win in a week.
In Bismarck, the Braves outshot the Demons 48-20 for the 3-0 win. Nordmark had the first goal of the game in the first period of play. Abdurrahman scored the second goal of the match in the second period as well as the third goal in the third period for the 3-0 win.
Grady Glasner, Gavin Bartsch, Fedje and Getzlaff each had assists in the win over Bismarck High. Lynnes faced the 20 shots on goal for the Braves with the shutout win.
