Bottineau boys take road win over Nedrose

In a Region 3 contest, the Bottineau boys basketball team traveled to Minot to face Nedrose. The Cardinals started the game two notches above the Braves in the region standings. Bottineau leaned heavily on rebounding and Nedrose turnovers to take the road win.

The two teams seemed to be evenly matched through the first quarter of play. To start the second quarter, the visitors held a 15-11 lead. The second quarter of play turned into the deciding eight minutes of play as the Braves outscored the Cardinals 18-6 and took the 38-17 lead into the halftime break.

The Braves edged the Cardinals 19-17 in the third quarter of play and held the 57-34 lead going into the fourth quarter. Both teams played to an even 17-17 fourth quarter of play with Bottineau holding the 74-51 final for the win.

The Braves will host the South Prairie-Max Royals on Friday, January 31, with a trip to New Town on Monday, February 3, for their next pair of games.

Nedrose will be in Rugby on Friday and host the Stanley Blue Jays on Monday, February 3, for their next pair of games.

Westhope-Newburg xx, Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood xx

In a battle of two top ten ranked teams in this weeks’ Division B polling, the tenth ranked Mavericks traveled to the sixth ranked Sioux in a Region 3, District 6 battle for seeding in the district standings.

The Sioux will host North Prairie on Thursday, January 30, and travel to TGU on Tuesday, February 4, for their next games.

The Mavericks will be at Drake-Anamoose on Friday, January 31, and host South Prairie-Max on Saturday, February 1, to end this week.

Velva 100, Surrey 47

The Aggies hosted the Mustangs in a Region 3, District 6 battle. Both teams were at six and seven in the district standings and fighting for the chance to move into the race for second place behind Bishop Ryan at the top of the list.

Velva has still received votes in the polls for Division A in the state and showcased their scoring in the home win.

The Aggies will be at TGU on Thursday, January 30, and in Ray on Saturday, February 1, for their next pair of games.

The Mustangs will host Our Redeemer’s on Thursday and take on Harvey-Wells County on Thursday, February 6, for their next pair of games.

Our Redeemer’s 79, Glenburn 22

Our Redeemers traveled to Glenburn and flexed their fifth place ranking in Division B with a road win that showcased both scoring and defense against the hosting Panthers.

The Knights play at Surrey on Thursday, January 30, and host Des Lacs-Burlington on Saturday, February 1, for their next pair of games.

The Panthers will be at Bishop Ryan on Friday, January 31, and host the Berthold Bombers on Tuesday, February 4, for the next two games.

Bishop Ryan 52, TGU 20

The second ranked Division B team in the state tackled the Titans at TGU in a Region 3, District 6 battle. The Lions flexed their defense in the win to remain atop the district standings.

South Prairie-Max 63, Dunseith 52

The Royals welcomed Dunseith to their hardwood and sent them back home with an ‘L’ for their efforts. The Royals travel to Bottineau on Friday and Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood on Saturday for their next two games.

Hazen 67,

Kenmare-Bowbells 57

Hazen made the trip to Kenmare-Bowbells and took a road win over the hosting Honkers. Hazen was led by Jaran Reinhardt with 27 points and Keaton Batke with 16 in the win. Tryce Brost added six and Jett Jungers five points as well.

Kenmare/Bowbells was led by TJ Lucy with 17 while Cohen Seime added 14 and Caleb Knutson 13 points in the effort.

Kenmare-Bowbells will host Parshall/North Shore-Plaza on Friday, January 31, and Bishop Ryan on Tuesday, February 4, for their next pair of games.

Hazen will host Linton-HMB on Thursday, January 30, and Stanley on Friday, February 7, for their next games.

Des Lacs-Burlington 53, Stanley 48

The Stanley Blue Jays made the trip east to take on the Des Lacs-Burlington Lakers. Despite the close contest, the hosts took the win to defend their home court.

Des Lacs-Burlington will travel to Our Redeemer’s on Saturday, February 1, and to TMCHS on Monday, February 3, for their next games.

Stanley will be at Nedrose on Monday and at Hazen on Friday, February 7, next week.
