FARGO – The Lions had only two athletes at the large meet but earned more points than the other local teams in attendance. The Lions placed 29th with 36.5 points while Velva was 32nd with 26, Minot High was 33rd with 23.5 and Carrington finished at 43rd with 16.5 points.

Cade Okeson earned 20.5 points with a third place finish at the Rumble. Okeson, at 285-lbs, took the 5-0 win over Clayton Danielson of Grand Rapids for the third place finish. Drew Zwak at 172 earned 16 points for the Lions with a fifth place finish.

The Lions have seven more events on the calendar prior to the end of season tournaments to earn a place at the state meet.

The Velva Aggies had four athletes wrestling at the meet. At 152, Carson Hildre finished in fourth place with 23 of the team’s points. Isaiah Hackman at 107 earned the other three points at the meet for the Aggies.

The Aggies have seven more meets scheduled prior to postseason action as well. Two events that both schools will attend are the Panther Booster Tournament in Rugby on January 17-18 and the Badlands Classic in Killdeer on January 25 this month.

Minot High had wrestlers at five weight classes. Korbin Kraft at 127 earned nine points for the Magicians. At 215, Lincoln Brooks added seven team points at the event. Noah Bledsoe at 172 earned four points for Minot High. Kaden Kraft at 145 earned three and a half points as well.

Minot High has seven more meets before the season ending contests begin. The Western Dakota Association (WDA) will be held February 8 while The 2025 NDHSAA Boys & Girls Wrestling State Tournament will be held February 20-22 at the Fargodome.

Bismarck Legacy and Bismarck High were the top two teams from the WDA ranks. Creighton Prep won the Rumble with a team score of 193 at the meet.
