Unbeaten Beaver men’s basketball at No. 12/19

Kari Gibb/MDN MSU men’s basketball head coach Matt Murken has the Beavers rolling and ranked at 12th in one poll and 19th in another this season.
The Minot State University (MSU) men’s basketball team rolled off two more wins this past week and continued to climb in the national rankings, as well.
After an 89-62 win at Mary and a 92-66 home win over Montana State Billings, the Beavers (13-0 overall, 4-0 NSIC) moved up one spot in the NABC Top 25 poll to No. 12 in the nation and made their NCAA debut in the D2CSC Top 25 at No. 19.
The Beavers hit the road this weekend for Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) games at Minnesota State Moorhead on Friday and at Northern State on Saturday. Friday’s contest will be a clash of Top 25 foes as the Dragons (9-1, 4-0) are No. 6 in the NABC poll and No. 9 in the D2CSC poll.
MSU earned 225 points in the coaches’ NABC poll as they moved up from No. 13 to No. 12 this week. Minot State has been nationally ranked for three consecutive weeks in the NABC poll, making its season debut at No. 20 this season. This is the second straight season the Beavers have been ranked nationally in the NABC poll.
The Dragons earned 307 points in the poll as they remained No. 6, while NSIC foe Southwest Minnesota State earned 36 points and checked into the Top 25 this week at No. 24.
Making their season and NCAA debut in the sports information director’s D2CSC poll, the Beavers picked up 71 points this week. MSU Moorhead earned 211 points and moved up from No. 10 to 9 in the D2CSC poll, and the Mustangs (9-2, 4-1) earned 63 points as they checked into the D2CSC poll at No. 21.
Unbeaten Nova Southeastern (10-0) from Florida was No. 1 in both polls.
