South Prairie wins first game of season
South Prairie-Max girls basketball hosted Kenmare-Bowbells last night for their season opener. The Royals are ranked number one in Class A and the Honkers are ranked number three in Class B with the preseason polling.
The game started close, with both teams taking turns with the lead. The Royals held the lead into halftime, coming out in the second half playing great defense against Kenmare-Bowbells. South Prairie increased their lead in their third quarter carrying this momentum until the final where they beat the Honkers 53-47.
South Prairie-Max will face Parshall on Thursday, December 5 at Parshall High School. Kenmare-Bowbells will face May-Port-CG on Friday, December 6 at the Minot Auditorium.
Des Lacs-Burlington 56, Beulah 28
The Lakers hosted Beulah to open the 2024-2025 girls basketball season and got into an offensive rhythm early and kept it up for the entire game.
DL-B outscored Beulah 17-2 in the first quarter, 11-10 in the second for the 28-12 lead at the half. The third quarter was a 16-7 run for the home team while the fourth quarter was a 12-9 scoring advantage for the Lakers win.
Des Lacs-Burlington was led by Logen Ystaas with 15 points while Kaylee Werner added 12 in the win. Ava Brown tallied nine points while four other Laker players scored between four and six points in the effort.
Beulah was led by MaLayah Williams with 12 points while Addie Dale-Ledger added eight points in the effort.

Bishop Ryan 36
In the first game for both teams, the Cardinals hosted the Lions and edged the visitors by 13 points for the home win.
Nedrose will host Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood on Friday, December 6, while Bishop Ryan will play at the Shootout on the Prairie held Friday and Saturday at the Minot Auditorium.
