Minot High takes road win, Minot North drops game to open WDA play

BISMARCK – Five of the ten schools in the Western Dakota Association (WDA) boys basketball standings have started the 2024-2025 season undefeated. That logjam will be broken as WDA play begins this week.

The Magicians are one of the five teams, one of four teams at 2-0 while Bismarck Legacy and Bismarck Century are the lone 3-0 teams to start the year in non-conference play.

The Sentinels are the lone 1-1 team in the standings with two teams at 1-2 and one at 0-2 for the start. Minot North won their historic first win as a varsity program at the same time they won their first home varsity game last week over the TMCHS Braves.

Minot 94, Bismarck St. Mary’s 47

The Magicians opened their WDA play with a win over Bismarck St. Mary’s to take their overall record to 3-0 for the new season. With the win Minot High joins Dickinson, Legacy, Century and Mandan as the 1-0 teams after opening conference play.

Century and Legacy are at 4-0 while Mandan, Dickinson and Minot High are at the 3-0 mark for the start to the season.

The Magicians host Bismarck High on Friday, December 20, for their next WDA contest and will close out the calendar year with a road trip, non-conference game against Fargo Davies on December 27.

Bismarck Legacy 59, Minot North 50

The Sentinels traveled to Bismarck and faced the Sabers on their turf. The loss puts Minot North at 0-1 in WDA play along with Bismarck High, St. Mary’s, Jamestown and Williston.

The Demons have two wins while each of the teams have one win on the season except for Jamestown. The Blue Jays are 0-3 to start the year.

The Sentinels will travel to Dickinson on Friday, December 20, for their next WDA contest and will host Grand Forks Central in non-conference play to close out the 2024 portion of the season on December 28.
