The Minot High girls’ ice hockey team started their season on Tuesday, November 26, against Bismarck Century. This season, Minot High has a mix of returning and new players.

“We’ve got a good mix of returning players who bring experience and leadership, along with some new faces who are eager to contribute,” Head Coach MaKayla Neuhalfen said.

This season, the Majettes are focusing on the team’s success and the different things they can do to achieve it.

“Our goals are to focus on development, teamwork, and competitive performance. We want to build strong fundamentals, improve individual skills, and ensure that every player is committed to the team’s success,” Coach Neuhalfen said. “Our expectations are to stay disciplined, work hard in every practice and game, and maintain a positive attitude both on and off the ice.”

Minot High will be facing a variety of teams this season over 22 regular season games. Beyond wins and losses, the Majettes are hoping to achieve much more.

“We want each player to walk away from the season knowing they gave their best effort, supported their teammates, and grew as athletes and individuals,” Coach Neuhalfen said. “Resilience is key, and we want them to understand the importance of bouncing back from setbacks, and staying positive when things don’t go our way.”

Seven seniors are returning this season, Coach Neuhalfen said, “We are returning four senior defensemen who have played in some really key spots for our team. They bring a large amount of experience and poise out there.”

The Majettes are planning to focus on building stronger fundamentals this season and placing a strong emphasis on communication and team chemistry. The coaches are ensuring the players will understand their roles on and off the ice while also putting in the work during practices to be a more cohesive and resilient team.
