Minot High Bowling team wins second straight state title
Minot High’s varsity bowling team won its second straight state championship last weekend. Minot High beat Fargo in the tournament 2-0 to take home yet another title.
When asked about the difference between winning the title last year and this year, eighth-grader Tatum Lee said that it was even more special.
“This one feels way more important because, at the start of the year, it wasn’t looking so good,” said Lee. “But then at the end of the year, we pulled it together and worked hard in practice, and then we just pulled it out.”
Minot High’s varsity team finished 15-5 in matches won, scoring a total of 19703 pins. The team also finished 68-29 on games won, tying three games this season. The team averaged 197.03 and had a high game of 277 and a high series of 1140.
Junior Max Beeter said that he put bowling first this year when it came to the success of the team.
“Last year I missed a bunch of bowling tournaments for racing, this year, I put bowling first, like I should do,” said Beeter.
Minot High had four bowlers named on the All Conference Teams.
Named First Team All Conference were Max Beeter, Tatum Lee, and Shawn Roberts. Named on the Second Team All Conference was Mikayla Cool.
Tatum Lee was ranked third in the varsity conference with 117 strikes and 52 spares. Max Beeter was ranked sixth with 106 strikes and 43 spares. Shawn Roberts was ranked seventh with 112 strikes and 50 spares this season. Ranked ninth was Mikayla Cool with 71 strikes and 66 spares.
Minot High plans to be seen excelling at next year’s state championship only losing one senior this season and keeping their team chemistry strong.
“We have good teamwork, and we just come together and have fun,” said Lee.
