Majettes undefeated at home, Sentinels earn first win on road

Kari Gibb/MDN Minot High freshman Everette Deschamp (10) drives past Bismarck High junior Taylor Mayer (32) for the basket in WDA action on Friday at the Minot High gym.

The Majettes, as the top ranked Division AA girls program in the state, get the best effort of every team that they face. A chance to beat Minot High is like winning a title for many teams.

Bismarck St. Mary’s put their effort into that game on Tuesday when the Majettes traveled to Bismarck and the Demons traveled to Minot to try their hand at the same shot to unseat the unbeaten.

Despite gritty play and their best effort, Minot High withstood the traveling team, the hostile fans and the elements outside for the 68-44 win on Friday, December 20, at the Minot High gym.

The Majettes improve to 2-0 in Western Dakota Association (WDA) play and 5-0 overall. Minot High sits atop the WDA standings with Bismarck Legacy with the same wins in and out of conference along with Mandan at 2-0 in WDA play and 4-0 overall.

Minot High will host Fargo Davies on December 28 to close out the 2024 portion of the season.

Minot North 81, Dickinson 60

The Minot North girls basketball team put another historic event into the record books on Friday, December 20, as they beat the Dickinson Midgets in girls varsity basketball.

The road win puts the Sentinels into seventh place in the WDA standings at 1-1 and at 1-3 overall.

The Lady Sentinels will host Grand Forks Central on December 28 at Minot North to end the 2024 portion of the season and will host Mandan on January 3 to resume WDA action and start the 2025 portion of the season.

Starting at $2.99/week.
