Majettes take WDA opening win, Sentinels still in the hunt
BISMARCK – Both Minot High and Minot North girls basketball teams traveled to Bismarck today for the kickoff to the Western Dakota Association (WDA) games of the 2024-2025 season to begin.
The Majettes are one of five teams that are undefeated in non-conference play and one of three teams at 3-0 going into this week’s contests. Bismarck Legacy and Williston are the other two teams that started the year at 3-0 prior to the games on Tuesday, December 17.
The Sentinels are at 0-2 in the non-conference play and are looking for their historical first win in their inaugural varsity season.
Minot High 63, Bismarck St. Mary’s 54
With the win on the road, the Majettes are now 1-0 in WDA action and 4-0 overall for the 2024-2025 season.
Along with Minot High at the 4-0 mark are Legacy and Williston- who both opened their WDA play with wins. Mandan also started conference play with a win and are at 3-0 overall. Bismarck Century is the only team with a 1-0 WDA mark with a loss in their current season.
The Majettes will be at Bismarck High on Friday, December 20, for their next WDA game and will host Fargo Davies in non-conference action to close out the 2024 portion of the new season on December 28.
Bismarck Legacy 68, Minot North 41
Bismarck Legacy moved to 1-0 in WDA play and 4-0 overall with the home win over Minot North. The Sentinels are 0-1 in conference and 0-3 overall for the start to the season.
Dickinson, Jamestown, Bismarck High and St. Mary’s are the other teams that kicked off WDA play with losses. The Midgets have one win in the new season while the Blue Jays, Demons and St. Mary’s each have two ‘W’s in the win column.
Minot North will be at Dickinson on Friday, December 20, for their next WDA game. The Sentinels will host Grand Forks Central in non-conference action to end the year on December 28.
