Majettes less than ten from first place
MANDAN – Seven Western Dakota Association (WDA) girls gymnastic teams took to the implements to compete one final time before the holiday breaks. Minot High had nearly a full team competing and missed first place by less than ten points with Dickinson posted a 146.575 for the win while the Majettes tallied 137.325 for second place.
“We struggled last week in Bismarck, but the girls came back strong,” said Minot High head coach Robbie Werchau. “We had almost everyone compete tonight. Keira Davis is still out with a bad ankle and Macey Blake has a mild concussion.”
Pavyn Peterson was fourth in the All Around with a 36.625 mark while Gracyn Bergan was sixth with a 34.375 for Minot High. Adylin Belnap was eighth while Lexi McLeod took 16th in the All Around.
Bergan was second in the vault with a 9.025 and Peterson was second in the floor exercise with a 9.350 for the event. Peterson was also fourth in the balance beam with a 9.175 and eighth in the uneven bars with an 8.650 as well.
Bergan was eighth in the balance beam and tenth in the floor exercise while Belnap was seventh in the uneven bars with a 8.675 while McLeod was tied for seventh in the floor exercise.
“Gracyn Bergan, Pavyn Peterson, Adylin Belnap, and Lexi McLeod were our top competitors,” said Werchau. “They had their best routines and scores on the floor with Adylin and Lexi doing new skills in their tumbling passes. Laikyn Halverson had her best bar routine and floor routine tonight. Overall I’m pleased with how the girls did. They showed some spunk and enthusiasm”
The Majettes will enjoy the holiday break and be back in action on January 3 at the Jamestown Meet and January 4 at the NW Stars Invite.
