Majettes gymnasts start season with second place

DICKINSON – The Minot High girls gymnastics team kicked off the 2024-2025 season with a road trip to perennial powerhouse Dickinson High. The Midgets were in first place at 146.325 points while the Majettes were close behind in second place at 136.8 with Mandan High in third at 129.225 for the event held Friday.

“There are 5 new girls on the team this year and 5 returning athletes,” said head coach Robbie Werchau of the team. “We only had 2 falls on the balance beam, which is a great start. We had 3 girls not compete due to injuries Keira Davis, Lexi McLeod and Bailey McLeod.”

Despite the injured athletes that were sitting out the initial event, the team had three of the top ten all around individuals. Dickinson had the other seven.

Minot High’s Pavyn Peterson tallied a 35.600 over the meet to finish in fourth place. Adylin Belnap carried an all around score of 34.250 for sixth place while Gracyn Bergan was right behind her at 34.125 in seventh place for the Majettes.

“Pavyn Peterson started the season with. 9.0 on bars and a 9.175 on floor,” said Werchau. “Adylin Belnap, a 7th grader, was our second highest all around scorer.”

Cadence Bagi tallied 32.450, Macey Blake had 32.100, Laikyn Halverson posted 31.650 and Amaya White added 29.950 for the team score and the second place finish.
