Majettes girls hockey take down Grand Forks 3-2
GRAND FORKS – Grand Forks Central combined with Grand Forks Red River as the Knight Riders were not enough for one group of Majettes on Friday, as Minot High continued their five game road trip with win over the fourth foe on the travel itinerary with the 3-2 win in Grand Forks.
The Knight Riders came into the home meeting with a 3-1 record for the year and the Majettes were able to win their second matchup in a row after dropping the first five games on their 2024-2025 schedule.
Each team got on the board in the first period with the home girls scoring first at the 6:45 mark on a power play. Less than a minute later, at even strength, Brynn Hanson found the net unassisted to tie the game 1-1 going into the second period of play.
In the second period, Hanson scored her second goal of the night on a power play with Kamryn Faraas and Sydnee Bartsch each being awarded assists for the 2-1 lead. Hanson hit for the hat trick just over three minutes later at even strength for her second unassisted goal and the 3-1 lead.
Grand Forks was able to score one goal in the third period at the 2:19 mark, but was unable to close the gap to tie or win in the end.
The Majettes had five penalties while the Knight Riders had six in the contest. The home team had 25 shots on goal while Minot High had 18 for the night. Faith Seekings guarded the net for Minot High and stopped 23 of the 25 shots for the win.
The Majettes will face Fargo Davies today for the final matchup on their five game road trip. Minot High will be home and host Jamestown on Friday, Dec. 20, at Maysa Arena.
