Majettes beat Coyotes, earn shutout on road
WILLISTON — The Minot High Majettes hockey team are on game three of a five game road trip that started last weekend and will end this weekend. For the middle game of the five, Minot High went from the eastern border of the state to the western side to face the Coyotes in Williston.
Minot High 3, Williston 0
The Majettes enjoyed the trip west far more so than the trip east as Minot High outshot Williston 29 to 26 with the three extra shots being the difference in the game for the winning road warriors.
Brynn Hanson started the scoring on a short handed goal in the first period of play followed by Yvonne Slind to take the 2-0 lead. Neither team had penalties in the first period of play.
Slind hit her second goal of the night in the second period and both teams had one penalty each. No scores were recorded in the third period and the Majettes had two penalties in the third while Williston had none.
Faith Seekings was in the net for Minot High and was a perfect 26 for 26 to earn the shutout.
Minot High will go back to the eastern side of the state to face Grand Forks on Friday, December 13, followed by Fargo Davies on Saturday, before getting back to home ice the following week when they host Jamestown on Friday, Dec. 20.
West Fargo United 4, Minot High 1
The Majettes continued their road trip on Saturday at West Fargo United and faced a home team that was determined to shoot the puck. United posted ten shots in the first, 12 in the second and 14 in the third period and outshot Minot High 36-25 on their home ice.
The Majettes scored in the second period when Ava Beda found Brynn Hanson for the first score of the match. I was the only score of the contest for Minot High.
United had one penalty in the first, two in the second and none in the third period while Minot High had one in the second and two in the third period for the game.
Promesa Phelps faced the 36 shots on goal and had 32 saves while Minot High had 24 shots on goal and posted the one score in the second period.
Fargo North-South 3, Minot High 2
The hosting Spruins posted three goals in the first period to take the early lead and the Majettes chipped away with goals in the second and third periods, but fell short in the end on Friday, December 6, on their continuing road trip.
Brynn Hanson scored the first goal in the second period for Minot High while Cambel Johnson hit the second goal in the third period off a Kamryn Garaas pass to pull within one shot.
Fargo North-South had three penalties in the first period and two in the third while Minot High had one penalty in both the first and third for the game.
Promesa Phelps worked the goal for the Majettes and faced 42 shots with 39 saves for the game. Minot High had only 13 shots on goal for the match.
