Magicians take down Sabers on road
BISMARCK — In a battle of unbeaten teams in the Western Dakota Association (WDA) standings, the travelers bested the home team as Minot High took the 2-1 win over the hosts from Bismarck Century.
Minot High scored two goals in the third period of play compared to one goal by the Sabers in the same period. The Magicians had 33 shots on goal compared to 19 for Century.
Carter Coleman hit the net for the Magicians first goal and to tie the game at 1-1 with Coen Schmeichel and Michael Eli being awarded the assists.
Easton Panasuk scored the go-ahead goal on a power play with Teegan Strand and Mackley Morrelli getting the assists.
Century had six penalties in the game compared to five for Minot High. Devon Keller stopped 18 of the 19 shots on goal while in the net for the Magicians.
With the win Minot High moves to 3-0 in WDA play and tied with Jamestown and Williston, who hold the same record.
The Magicians have 14 goals for and only two goals against while Jamestown has 14 four and seven against and Williston has 18 for and four against. Each team is riding a three game win streak with nine points for each to start the WDA season.
Minot High will host Dickinson on Saturday before traveling to Devils Lake on Tuesday, Dec. 17, in a non-conference matchup.
