FARGO – The Magicians traveled to Fargo to take on the Davies Eagles in non-conference action on Friday, December 27, and brought home a win in their final game of the 2024 calendar year.

Minot High worked the home team patiently and survived the opening half of high energy and excitement to build a 44-29 lead. That same tempo held for the second half as each team roughly doubled the first half scoring enroute to the 90-60 win for the Magicians.

The Magicians shot nearly 55-percent in the first half and improved to just over 56-percent in the second half. Minot High was 4-11 from three-point range in the first half and 8-17 in the second half while improving from the freethrow line with 75-percent in the first half and 100-percent in the second half.

Minot had eight offensive rebounds and 30 defensive boards. The improved shooting percentages meant less rebounding due to fewer missed shots.

Aric Winczewski led the Magicians with 24 points on 8-10 on two-pointers and 2-3 from the arc. Payton Schell added 20 points and five rebounds for Minot High. Grayson Schaeffer scored 17 points with six rebounds while Fischer Johnson added 14 points and four rebounds as well.

Davies was led by Illinois State bound Mason Klabo with 38 points and 11 rebounds in the effort.

The win keeps the Magicians undefeated as they close out the 2024 portion of the 2024-2025 season of play.

Minot High will host Williston on Jan. 3 in a battle of Western Dakota Association teams to start the new calendar year.
