Magicians hope to continue building success at pool

The Minot High boys swimming and diving program had a frost heave on the road to state titles last season. After winning the NDHSAA championship from 2018 to 2023, West Fargo claimed the title last season.

Returning this year are two of the Magicians three all state swimmers. This year, now seniors, Logan Hill and Carter Larson hope to lead the team back to the top steps of the state podium.

Larson is strong in the butterfly and backstroke while Hill is a freestyle sprinter. Several underclassmen from last year’s team will have the chance to fill the roles of stellar seniors who graduated from last year’s squad.

Seniors that were on last year’s team that made the all state teams were Ty Ross on the first team and Matt Bown and Jacob Roth on the second team.

Last year’s team was 9-1 in duals and took three 2nd place finishes, three 3rd place finishes and one fifth place finish at intives and meets last year.

The Magicians were second at the Western Dakota Association (WDA) championships last year and seventh at the state meet.

Minot kicked off their season with their own Minot Meet Friday, Dec. 13, and will be at Jamestown on Tuesday, Dec. 17, for their first WDA action.
