Magi win final two in Minnesota, 3-0 overall
ROSEAU, Minn. – Minot High boys hockey had post holiday fun on the road in Minnesota with three games in Roseau. After taking the first match 10-2 last week, the Magi had two games left- one on Friday and the other on Saturday, December 28, and swept the competition to end the 2024 calendar year of play.

Armstrong-Cooper 2
In the last game of the road trip, Minot High outshot Armstrong-Cooper 27-14 for the sweep in Minnesota.
Coen Schmeichel found the net in the first period at the 7:06 mark on an even strength goal. Easton Panasuk and Mackley Morelli had the assists on the score for the 1-0 lead. Armstrong-Cooper evened the match at 1-1 at the 9:09 mark before Carter Coleman scored on a power play goal at the 15:39 mark. Oliver Thompson and Cole Richeson had the assists for the 2-1 lead to end the first period.
Armstrong-Cooper had two penalties to Minot High with none in the first. The Magi shot ten times on goal while Devon Keller shut down four of the five shots in net for Minot High.
Armstrong-Cooper evened the game at 2-2 in the second period on a power play goal at the 3:58 mark. Panasuk scored on an even strength goal at the 6:07 mark with Morelli and Cole Erhart awarded the assists for the 3-2 that ended up as the final score.
Minot High had two penalties in the second period of play while Armstrong-Cooper had none in the second but one in the third period of play. The Magi outshot Armstrong-Cooper 9-5 in the second and 8-4 in the third for the win.
Minot High has 18 points on the season in Western Dakota Association (WDA) standings with a 6-0 WDA record and 10-0 overall. The Magi will host Bismarck Century on January 7 in their next WDA action.

Roseau, Minn. 2
The Magi jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first period of play with Roseau tying the game at 1-1 at the 13:39 mark only to chase Minot High for the rest of the matchup.
Thompson scored the first goal of the game at the 6:59 mark on an even strength effort. Richeson and Finlee Bentz were awarded the assists on the 1-0 lead. After Roseau tied the game, Teegan Strand found the net on a short handed score with Bentz on the assist for the 2-1 lead. Panasuk scored a short handed goal at the 15:42 mark with Rylan Roteliuk on the assist for the 3-1 lead.
Minot High had two penalties while Roseau had one in the first period of play. Minot High had 12 shots on goal in the first compared to Roseau with five.
Roseau scored first in the second period at the 4:28 mark to narrow the Magi lead to 3-2 before Richeson hit net for an even strength goal at the 5:04 mark with Panasuk and Jayce Lemon getting the assists for the 4-2 lead.
Neither team scored in the third period of play.
Minot High had two penalties in the second and one in the third while Roseau had one in each period. In the end, the Magi recorded 26 shots on goal compared to 15 for the hosts. Keller held court in goal and saved 13 of the 15 shots for the win.
