Surrey, Our Redeemer’s win, advance to semis
In the second bracket of the Region 6 volleyball tournament, the top-seeded District 11 Surrey faced District 12 number four seed Rugby, and District 12 number two seed Our Redeemer’s faced District 11 number three seed Bottineau.
Surrey 3, Rugby 1
Rugby started in the lead during the first set until Surrey went on a three-point run and pulled ahead 9-6. The Mustangs kept the pressure going against Rugby pulling ahead 20-12. They finished strong, winning the first set 25-18.
In the second set, Rugby went on an eight-point run before Surrey scored. Rugby used this momentum throughout the entire set beating the Mustangs 25-18.
In the third set, Surrey responded with a 25-13 victory against the Panthers, and with this momentum, they battled in the fourth set winning 25-16 against Rugby. The Mustangs won the match 3-1.
For the winning Mustangs Makya Gerding led with 11 kills and four aces. Kenzie Neighbors had nine kills, three aces, and 11 digs. Khloe Spaulding had seven kills and four blocks. Alexa Ryals led the team with 18 assists.
For the Panthers Lacie Deplazes led with 20 kills, 29 digs, and one block. Jesse Wolf led with 31 assists and five aces. Sam Blessum had eight kills and Brylee Amyotte had 20 digs.
The Surrey Mustangs will advance to the semifinals tonight at Minot Municipal Auditorium and will be playing Our Redeemer’s.

Our Redeemer’s faced off Bottineau in the last match of the quarter finals last night. Our Redeemer’s started in the lead leading Bottineau 16-11. They continued this momentum throughout the set winning 25-14. In the second set, Our Redeemer’s kept up the pace winning by another score of 25-14. In the third and final set, Bottineau put up a fight leading the Knights 13-6 in the beginning. Our Redeemer’s responded by pulling ahead in the second half of the set winning by a score of 25-22. The Knights won the match 3-0.
For the winning Knights Mikayla Altringer led with 10 kills and one block. Grace Olson led with 28 assists, nine digs, and one block. Brooklyn Roedocker had six kills and two blocks. Olivia Ebel led with 14 digs.
For Bottineau Kyra Beckman led with 11 kills, 11 digs, and two blocks. Kaia Hennings had four kills and two blocks. Avery Keith led with nine assists and three aces.
Our Redeemer’s will go on to face Surrey tonight in the semifinals.
