MSU’s Lovett up for Harlon Hill Trophy

After a standout season on the gridiron that earned Minot State University (MSU) running back Evan Lovett first Team All-NSIC honors, now the redshirt junior from Tucson, Arizona is up for another award:

The Harlon Hill Trophy as the top player in the nation at the NCAA Division II level.

Lovett is one of 43 players up for the award and one of 11 candidates from Super Region 4.

Each of the four super regions will vote on the candidates from their region and select two award finalists from the region who will be announced on Monday, December 2.

Lovett ran for 958 yards in 11 games this fall for the Beavers, second most in a single season in MSU’s NCAA era.

He also tied the all-time single-game record for rushing touchdowns with four scores in the Beavers’ 56-23 win over Winona State earlier this month and ran for the second-most yards in a single game in MSU’s NCAA era with 255 yards in the win over the Warriors.

In four seasons with the Beavers, Lovett has rushed for 1,449 yards in 31 games with 12 touchdowns.

The winner of the 2024 award will be announced on Friday, December 20.

The Hill Trophy is named for the late Harlon Hill – the former University of North Alabama standout – who excelled with the Lions from 1950-53 before going on to fame in the National Football League with the Chicago Bears.

Starting at $2.99/week.
