MSU’s Lovett NSIC Player of the Week
It was a career day for Minot State University (MSU) running back Evan Lovett who helped send his senior teammates off in glorious fashion Saturday, November 16, with a performance that wrote Lovett’s name into the Beaver record books as MSU rolled to a 56-23 win on Senior Day.
The record-setting effort by the redshirt junior was honored on Monday by the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) as well. Lovett was named the NSIC Offensive Player of the Week for football.
Lovett tied the NCAA Division II single-game school record for rushing touchdowns with four in Saturday’s victory. He also moved to No. 2 in the NCAA record books with his 255 yards rushing in the win, MSU’s second-best single-game performance as well as No. 2 in the NCAA record books in single-season rushing yards as he finished the fall with 958 total yards this season for the Beavers.
The honor is the first for Lovett this season who becomes the third Minot State football player named NSIC Player of the Week, joining defensive back Nalu Cordeiro and kicker Diego Nunez-Smith who were honored earlier this season.
Saturday’s victory wrapped up a memorable 2024 season for the Beavers who finished with a 5-6 overall record, their best mark in the program’s NCAA era.
