MSU volleyball team celebrate seniors Friday
The Minot State University (MSU) volleyball team will hit the court for two more matches this season and celebrate the career of three seniors at the same time.
The Beavers will honor Taylor Wyatt, Bailee Brommenschenkel, and Madelyn Boop on Friday night, November 15, for “Senior Night” when MSU hosts Sioux Falls at the MSU Dome at 6 p.m.
The Beavers then wrap up the 2024 season hosting 15th-ranked Wayne State at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
The weekend will be the final action for Wyatt, a senior Criminal Science major and middle blocker from Las Vegas, Nevada who in four seasons with the Beavers has played in 84 matches recording 363 kills and 113 blocks. She ranks No. 8 in MSU’s NCAA Division II-era in block assists with 97, No. 9 in total blocks with 113, and No. 9 in kills with 363.
As for Brommenschenkel, a senior Social Work major and middle blocker from Ada, Minnesota, she already set the NCAA Division II single-season Minot State record for blocks with 80 this fall – and counting. In two seasons with the Beavers, she has played in 52 matches with 261 kills and 138 blocks. She ranks No. 6 in total blocks with 138 and No. 7 in block assists with 119.
Boop is a graduate student majoring in Sports Management and an outside hitter from Reno, Nevada who in her single season this fall with the Beavers has 177 kills, 176 digs, and 18 blocks in 25 matches. She is second on the team in kills and third in digs for MSU.
Friday, the Beavers battle a Sioux Falls team in the thick of the playoff race as the Cougars (13-11 overall, 8-8 NSIC) are tied for seventh, eight, and ninth with Minnesota State and Augustana in a dogfight for one of the eight postseason berths.
Saturday, MSU closes against 15th-ranked Wayne State (20-6, 12-4) which is tied for third and fourth in the NSIC standings, but also trying to fend off fifth-place Northern State and earn a first-round home playoff berth.
